Fashion File needs a new host...Tim Blanks is moving onWhy:
After 17 years Fashion File Host Tim Blanks is leaving and FF does not just want to just replace him, we want to use this as an opportunity to create a new Fashion File.
Fashion File will get a new look and feel. And we're going to find the new host through a reality show called Fashion File Host Hunt.
Fashion File Host Hunt will hold a Canada-wide open casting call, and select 10 hopefuls who will come to the CBC broadcast centre in Toronto to compete for the job. They will be tested on their fashion knowledge, reporting, and interviewing skills (more).
They will be eliminated until only one remains. That person will be the new host of Fashion File, a job which includes:
- travelling the world covering fashion
- interviewing top designers and models
- writing a column for Fashion Magazine
- making the season's fashions accessible to a broad audience
Fashion File Host Hunt is traveling the country and will be conducting open casting calls in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. The only thing that is required is you, but resumes and reels are encouraged.
Note: Applicants to Fashion File Host Hunt must be Canadian Citizens.

A reel is a video submission tape. It should be 2 minutes long and it should show us why you should be the next host of Fashion File.
What qualities are we looking for?
- solid knowledge of fashion, past and present and of the industry
- able to write for TV
- able to write for print (a regular column in Fashion Magazine is part of the host's responsibilities)
- strong reporting/ interviewing skills
- ability to think on your feet
- fashionable / a stylist / able to make people over / provide fashion tips...
- personable / approachable / easy / a sense of humour / presence
- a great voice
